Fly fishing for Stripers

There's nothing like catching these fish on a fly! With the selection ofClearwater® gear and flies available today, it's easy to see that it's probably the fastest growing area of fly fishing in New England.

Setups ranging from 8 wt. to 14 wt. are the most common. Fly fishing being the most effective when fish are feeding near or at the surface and especially when fish are selective on very small bait (1-3 inches) that are too small as a lure to cast well with conventional spinning tackle. I've personally witnessed times when, if you were not casting a fly, you were not catching fish. The people that were, were kicking butt. It was a perfect scenario as the fish were hot on a bait that was 1 1/2 inches long and on the surface... try casting that presentation with a spinning rod.

If you haven't tried fly fishing for stripers yet, your missing out on a lot of fun, and a challenge well worth mastering.
