We really have a blast shad fishing. Its quite a hoot and a real test of your light tackle or flyrodding skills.

They like to hit a small jig or shad dart in bright colors. The color of the day can change from hour to hour or day to day. Just pick a color you know they can see and start from there. Technique can vary from dead drift --like nymphing-- to quite a fast-paced retrieve.

 With a light-action rod, light line on a decent quality reel, and a selection of 1/8-1/4oz. jigs and trailers you'll be set to go.
