Hey
Fellow Hunters,
I'm glad
you could make it to the hunting page. I hope that you find it entertaining and
informative , I know it will be fun putting it together for you.
I've been hunting the woods of Maine for nearly twenty years and I think that I have a
pretty good idea of what makes these big woods deer tick.
I
also have alot of experience hunting what we call pocket deer ,these are deer that live
nearly their whole life in small pockets of land between farms other rural and even
residential zones ....... these guys are real sharp when it comes to surviving the hunting
season . You need to have keen knowledge of these deer's movements and habits and
how they will react when the hunting season starts .
Probably one of the most important tools hunters have and don't use is a moon
phase chart . The same lunar pull that gives us high and low tides also plays a
huge roll in deer movements and feeding times . For more information on this subject see
the article that I found on the internet
"Lets see"...... should I buy Camo that looks like
leaves? or branches? , or maybe both Leaves ,branches and maybe some tree bark?
......Yaaaah Tree bark that's it.. tree bark ..... Well here is something you should read
first. This guy has done some serious homework on the subject of Camouflage, his informal camo study
makes for good reading especially if you paid big bucks for the camo clothing
your using now.
Go to my Links section and check out the links to
TopoScout and Garmin. TopoScout from MapTech has the latest topographical mapping software
with a PC/GPS interface that works great with the Garmin GPS 12. You just find a
spot on the topo map that you want to scout or hunt, mark the map and download the
waypoints, track or route into your GPS via an interface cable you can buy where you got
your GPS (except Wal-Mart ,they don't carry them) print the map ,and your off. I got
one early this fall with the interface cable and TopoScout software and so far it has
worked flawlessly and is extremely accurate ,I'm real happy with it and it's proved to be
a real asset and a time saver, it will probably save me a fews miles of walking before the
season is through.
I
hope my hunting page will be of some help to you in your quest for the BIG BOY .....keep
the wind in your face......and good luck!
